Making a Cut

This evening I practiced with my a cappella group to prepare for an audition next week. I arranged one of the songs we were practicing. My fellow group members told me it was a great arrangement, but we struggled to make it sound really good and polished because of its complexity. At one point the group director and I looked at the score and decided to cut out several pages to make the whole song easier on us. The change was made and implemented the next time we sang through it, and it sounded much better! The whole arrangement was tighter and sounded much better. I am grateful that a well-placed cut to my arrangement improved our performance of the whole piece.
