The Sound of Birds and Crosswalks

At a crosswalk this morning, I crossed the street when the walking man icon flashed, as usual. This crosswalk also uses a chiming, chirping sound to alert pedestrians that they can cross the street. As this sound occurred, I heard another sound: chirping birds in the nearby trees. Their chirps were very similar to the sound of the crosswalk light post. In that moment I came to a realization that the birds may be chirping in response to the crosswalk sound! They were singing the same notes and interval as the artificial sound. Did the birds think they were responding to other birds? Possibly! I chuckled to myself.

It struck me how interesting that thought was. The realization came out of nowhere, yet it felt like a revelation. It was a very small moment in my day that made my day a little more joyful and humorous. I am grateful for that unexpected moment. Perhaps it was inspired thought, designed to bless me with unexpected insight, as well as a small measure of added joy. :)
