Proclamation Statement #8: "The First Commandment"

"The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife."

This is a good statement of truth for Father's Day (it would have been equally appropriate for Mother's Day as well). The "first commandment" mentioned here is the commandment given to mankind to "be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth" (Genesis 1:28).

This is further evidence that God wants His children to establish families and find happiness therein. I am grateful that my mom and dad decided to raise me and my siblings. Today, I am especially grateful for my dad, for his work, for his service, and for his love. It was good to talk with him today. I am grateful for the role that my father has in my life. I am also eternally grateful for all my Heavenly Father does for me.
